Emily Rooney, President

Emily joined Ag Council in 2008 and became President in 2010. She manages the organization and handles regulatory and budget policy matters on behalf of Ag Council members.

Prior to her work with Ag Council, Emily served as director of farm policy for the California Farm Bureau Federation where she represented the interests and objectives of California’s farmers and ranchers as they relate to farm policy, tax and biotech issues before the U.S. government and administrative bodies. In addition, Emily has legislative experience in Washington, D.C. where she worked for two members of Congress advising on issues including agriculture, budget, taxes and judiciary matters.

Emily comes from an agricultural background in San Joaquin County where her family owns a beef cattle and sheep operation just outside of Lodi. Emily is a graduate of the University of California, Davis and Class 39 of the California Agricultural Leadership Program.

Tricia Geringer, Director of Government Affairs

Tricia joined Ag Council as Director of Government Affairs in 2010 and advocates at the state Capitol on behalf of Ag Council's members on legislative policy issues that affect them.  Previously, she worked as Legislative Director for a member of Congress in Washington, D.C. focusing on agriculture, energy, immigration, trade and water policy.  Tricia also worked in San Diego as Director of Public Policy and Development for CONNECT, which is a non profit that helps entrepreneurs launch companies.

She was raised on a farm in Fresno where her family grows winegrapes and raisin grapes.  Tricia holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from California State University, Fresno, a Masters degree in Public Policy from George Mason University, and she earned her law degree from Thomas Jefferson University in San Diego.  She is a current member of Leadership Sacramento, Class 25, which is a leadership development program created by the Sacramento Chamber of Commerce. 

Rebecca Osumi, Business and Events Manager

Rebecca joined Ag Council in 2011 as Business and Events Manager.  Her knowledge of event planning and strong customer service skills comes from her supervisory work in the hotel industry. While working at the Hilton Garden Inn in Pismo Beach and the Embassy Suites Hotel in San Luis Obispo, she gained experience in social networking, accounting, and customer and vendor relations.

Rebecca also has a strong agricultural background with her family’s agricultural business on the Central Coast, where she handled bookkeeping and administrative responsibilities. Rebecca is a 2011 Agricultural Science and Communications graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
